Opening Times
Our opening times are Tuesday –Friday 10:00 - 17:00 and Saturday/Bank Holiday Mondays 13:00 - 17:00.
Booking/ Group Visits/ Visiting times
Individuals are not required to pre-book a visit to the museum.
We would allow an hour for your visit although you are welcome to stay longer.
Groups should contact us in advance to arrange a suitable time for their visit.
We would also ask if you are showing any signs or symptoms of the virus that you wait and visit us at another time.
Displays
Where possible, we are operating a one way system throughout the museum. All our galleries will be open. However to reduce the number of touch points, foreign language guides and some of our displays are temporarily unavailable
Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the museum and additional cleaning will be carried out during the day.
Shop
Our shop will be open and can be accessed on the way out of the museum.
To minimise the risk to staff and visitors we have a protective screen installed at the till counter, hand sanitiser available, and prefer contactless payment.
Toilets
Visitor toilets, including disabled/ baby changing, are available and cleaned regularly throughout the day.
First Aid
Should you require basic first aid assistance we have a first aid kit in the museum and a member of staff will be happy to provide guidance on self-treatment. We will also have our own PPE should further assistance be required.
As always in the event of an emergency we will call 999.

The Museum on the Mound is located in the heart of Edinburgh's city centre, just 500 metres from Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street.

We have a small gift shop which sells a range of souvenirs to suit all pockets. Please note that all of our profits are donated to Lloyds Banking Group's Charity of the Year.
