Digital workshops
We are happy to offer free digital workshops that provide an inspiring, interdisciplinary introduction to money. Our workshops have been designed to encourage pupils to think critically and creatively through exploration and discovery. Free handling materials are sent in advance to make our digital workshops as sensory and engaging as possible. These activities help learners make meaningful links across the curriculum.

Inspiring, hands-on Digital Workshops
We’re delighted to offer What is Money? — a free video workshop designed as a fun, interactive and interdisciplinary way to explore money with your learners.
This workshop invites learners to see, touch, smell and investigate money in ways that spark curiosity, conversation and creativity.
It is ideal for learners aged 7 to 11.
The content supports cross‑curricular learning, including numeracy, social studies, literacy and creative design.
What the Workshop includes
Your free resource includes everything you need to make learning about money hands‑on.
Learners are guided through an engaging workshop that explores:
- What money is and how we use it today
- The world’s oldest, longest and most unusual forms of money
- Why different materials had value across cultures and time
They are then invited to design their own currency. If you’d like, learners can send their designs to the Museum and we’ll turn them into wearable badges, so they can proudly share their learning.
How to book?
Everything is completely free for UK groups.
- Complete this short Microsoft Form
- We’ll post your handling pack directly to you.
- You’ll receive an email with the video link and guidance so you can deliver the session with confidence.
Prefer a live digital workshop?
If you’d prefer a digital workshop led by a Museum staff member on Microsoft Teams, we can arrange that too. It uses the same handling activities and discussion-based approach and can be booked by completing this form.
